How do I send 11 characters with my message, rather than a phone number?

When sending a text message, you may wish to use the field that normally displays the phone number of the message sender to show any 11 characters of your choosing.

Examples of this use include “From Bill” or “Widgets Ltd”. This helps to identify you, as the sender of the message, to the recipients.

The default setting for this option is to send the first 11 characters of your organisation’s name (as registered with us) with your message. You can change these 11 characters from within our applications, as follows:

  1. TextOnline: select the NO REPLY SEND 11 CHARACTERS option, and enter your chosen 11 characters in.
  2. TextCampaign: in Step 4 of sending your campaign, select the NO REPLY SEND 11 CHARACTERS option, and enter your chosen 11 characters in.
  3. TextMail: choose the appropriate email address to send the email to. For the appropriate email address, click on the TEXTEMAIL tab and select either the smsid.textapp.net or sms160id.textapp.net domains, depending on the length of the message you wish to send.

If you would like your text message to appear to come from a Short Code number, then enter the 4, 5, or 6 digit number in the NO REPLY SEND 11 CHARACTERS box.
