Are Short Codes charged at a standard or premium rate to my customers?
Messages sent from a handset to any Short Code are charged to the sender at their standard network rate.
Most short code services nowadays are used to enable individuals to text in a response to a marketing Call-To-Action. An ad may encourage the reader to “Text INFO to 81045 for more information”, for example.
Our service receives the text, forwards the inbound enquiry on to our client, and then optionally sends back a “Thank you for contacting us” text message. This message is free for the recipient to receive.
TextAnywhere no longer offers “premium” rate messaging. We are able to offer both standard rate and “toll free” options, on a standard rate Short Code the handset will be charged one standard rate message to send a text to the Short Code. With a “toll free” option the cost of the initial message to the Short Code would be picked up by the client operating the service.
