How many SMS messages can I send before it is counted as spam?
There is no official anti-spam guidance for the maximum number of message you may send in one campaign. However we would recommend splitting your campaigns into manageable chunks, ie: 20,000 per campaign, and scheduling the sending of these message with short intervals between them, ie: 15 – 30 minutes. This will allow a seamless flow of texts through the mobile network systems, and will also help ensure any responses are not received in one large deluge. It will also give you an opportunity to test which message may be better received, and should you wish to alter the text you can do so before sending the next batch.
There are specific regulations which must be taken into account for SMS and Email Marketing. These are detailed on the Information Commissioner’s Office here. It must be remember that recipients need to have opted in to receive SMS or Email marketing communications, and any campaign must include a mechanic to opt out.
All of TextAnywhere’s services enable a customer to opt out by texting back STOP. This will register on your account’s opt out list and will ensure that the recipient will not receive any further SMS messages from you, should they be inadvertently included in any of your future campaigns.
