Can I spread or throttle an SMS marketing campaign over a whole day?

Yes. With TextCampaign, our SMS marketing application, you can choose to send your SMS campaign to all of your recipients in one go, or break the campaign in to batches, to be sent over the course of the day.

When you are about to send the SMS campaign you have the option to either schedule the message for later delivery or to send the campaign immediately. This option will send the entire campaign in one go, at the allotted time.

However, if you want to have the SMS campaign sent out over a longer period, to ensure that you have a consistent and management level of responses coming in to your organisation, you can choose to have the messages sent out over a given period of time.

The ability for the campaign to be sent over a period of time, rather than in one go, is known as Smoothing.

TextCampaign enables you to set how much of your SMS campaign is sent, and over what time period the messages are sent.

For example, you can upload a file of 20,000 recipients and tell the system to send 5,000 messages on the hour, each hour, for the next 4 hours. This is known as Sequential Smoothing.

Alternatively, you can tell the system to send 10% of your SMS campaign of 20,000 recipients between 10.00am and 11.00am, 30% between 11.00am and 12.00pm, and then 60% between 2.00pm and 3.00pm, for example. This is known as Staged Smoothing.

You can choose whether to smooth your campaign or not, and which type of smoothing to use, on a campaign-by-campaign basis in step four of TextCampaign.
